Hogsmill Abandoned Pipe Crossing Removal

Removal of an abandoned 18 inch spun iron pipe crossing above the Hogsmill River walkway. The works included stakeholder liaison, encapsulated scaffold access, pipe cutting and removal, and capping of the remaining main on both sides of the river.

Specialist works delivered in a live infrastructure setting

Our client had an abandoned 18” spun iron pipeline that ran parallel to a railway line, located in the Hogmill Riverside Open Space. Due to the addition of the Hogsmill River Walkway the abandoned pipe became a hazard to members of the public who had to duck under the pipe while using the walkway. After liaising with the Environment Agency, Local Council and Network Rail, we erected an encapsulated access scaffold over the walkway, cut and removed the pipe then capped off both ends of the remaining main on either side of the Hogsmill River.
